Part 6: Working with Citrix XenApp 6.5 – Configuring XenApp Server

It is time to get the XenApp Server configured, almost there!

XenApp Server Configuration:

Click on Configure under XenApp Tasks configuration and launch the configuration wizard
xa28
Select Create a new server farm
xa29

Provide a new farm name and define the first Citrix administrator account
xa30
Since this is a first Server in our Domain and we have no other XenApp servers, we don’t have any databases, so we’ll need to create one. Here, we have two options, either we create a database local to the server using SQL 2008 Express or we can create a remote database on a dedicate SQL server cluster or Oracle server. In a large environment, it is recommend to use a dedicated SQL server, in fact, in a production environment, I’d opt for a dedicated server, however in my case, since it’s a lab, I opted to install the database locally
xa31
Enter the correct database credentials
xa32
xa33
Here, we have the option of enabling Shadowing of user sessions, I chose to include it
xa34
I chose to leave the defaults under advanced server settings, however in some environments, some of these options might need to be changed
xa35
We can now apply the configuration changes we just made
xa36
xa37
All done! We can now click Finish!
